The CTM Ultra Carbon shoe is a technically advanced running shoe designed for you to run at a high pace over a long time or for frequent use on shorter runs and walks. Developed in collaboration with Endurance athlete and ultra-champion marathon runner Tommy Rivers. The CTM Ultra Carbon Race Rebel was awarded as one out of three “Best Fast Shoe 2022” by Runner's World Magazine.
The CTM Ultra Carbon 2 running shoe is a versatile running shoe we found excellent for use on pavement, gravel roads, and light trails.
And noteworthy, these shoes crush it on the treadmill. Particularly on iFit-enabled Nordictrack or Proform treads, where you can train alongside iFit trainer Tommy Rivs, trekking up hillsides or during tempo runs, interval runs, walks, and hikes. Tommy Rivers Puzey, or Rivs as he’s affectionally known, is an Elite Runner for Craft Sportswear whom they continue to sponsor even after his historic battle for his life from lymphoma cancer, after which he went on to complete the NYC and the 2022 Boston Marathons.

Tommy co-designed the ultimate runner shoe named the CTM Ultra Carbon shoe as well as running apparel gear on the Craft Sportwear site.
The midsole has a super-responsive foam and a carbon plate for a smooth run. The formulated foam has a medium to firm feel that softens. After just a few runs, we found the foam was softer and more responsive. Overall, the CTM Ultra Carbon 2 gives a smooth, bouncy, yet comfortable run outdoors and on treadmills. A unique highlight is that Tommy Riv’s signature mantra, " Let’s Rage " is right there on the heel!

GOOD TO KNOW
■ Incorporated in its design is durable, responsive UD foam in the middle of the sole that houses the carbon plate. A notch in the carbon plate between the big toe was made to add flexibility, giving the Craft CTM Ultra Carbon 2 more bounce and stability with uneven terrain.
■The upper outer part of the CTM Ultra Carbon 2 is a highly breathable mesh with a semi-integrated tongue.
■The CTM Ultra Carbon running shoe outsole is between a typical road shoe and a trail shoe. Craft states, that the CTM “Ultra Trac” outsole can handle roads or light trails in varying conditions. It has chevron-shaped lugs in the forefoot and heel, with exposed midsole foam under the midfoot. Finally, to lock the heel in, it has light padding.
CONS
We want to highlight for that serious trail runners they are not as supportive for the utmost rugged paths. On a treadmill running deck, pavement, and trails with a somewhat uneven surface, the CTM Ultra Carbons shoe feels secure and super comfortable.
The one drawback with these shoes is the upper mesh, as there seems to be too much mesh material to provide enough support on severe rugged trails. The entire upper is stretchy, making it feel less secure on this terrain. But no worries on the road, treadmill, or lighter trails.
IN THE END – Final Thoughts
A high-performance and durable running shoe, the Craft CTM Ultra Carbon 2 works well on a treadmill and the road/trail.
The CTM Ultra Carbon shoe is best for frequent runs. It also delivers superior performance on runs in multi-terrain environments. It is hard to find a shoe that transitions well from trail to road and treadmill, and the CTM Ultra Carbon shoe does so extremely well. Running on a treadmill is where the CTM Ultra Carbon 2 shines, bouncy, responsive, full of energy return, and amazingly comfortable. If you follow Tommy Rivs, you feel his inspiration with every stride – Rage on!
The CTM Ultra Carbon 2 shoe was conceived to be long-lasting and responsive. This running shoe is efficient and fun at long and up-tempo paces, transitioning well between the road and the trail. This shoe has mild stability elements in the heel and forefoot and the toe box provides a roomy feel.
