NIKE SuperRep Cycle Shoe Review for riders who want clip-in pedals
After a long absence, NIKE has a new indoor cycling shoe again — The Nike SuperRep Cycle or a.k.a Nike Spin Shoes. These cycle shoes bring an incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and breathable design to high-heat, fast-paced indoor cycling.
Nike cycling shoes are designed to support intense Peloton or SoulCycle workouts or on the SoulCycle at-Home Bike, including the exciting mountain trails powered by iFit Connected-Fitness on the Nordictrack S22i and new S27i Studio Cycle.
Adjustable straps secure feet during intense workouts. SuperRep Cycle shoes will work with both caged and clip-in pedal systems with either SPD or Delta Look cleats, so you do not have to swap out the pedals that come with your bike if you prefer not to.
They work with LOOK DELTA cleats for Peloton bikes as well as SPD cleats. Also supported are SPD-SL (Road Bike Cleat system) plus MTB pedal systems.
SuperRep Update:
Nike doubled down on a commitment to cycling shoes with the July 2022 release of its SuperRep Cycle 2 Next Nature model. They are ultralight, made with more sustainable materials, provide improved breathability and airflow, and have a redesigned strap closure to secure your feet. Both models are excellent indoor cycling shoes.
Nearly all cycle shoe features pointed out in this review also apply to the SuperRep Cycle 2, for men and women’s styles, though you may find them in new colors, however, you will find better pricing is for the original Nike SuperRep.

Switching from Peloton Shoes
If you already own a pair of Peloton compatible cycling shoes, then you can just move your existing Delta cleats to your new pair of shoes or use one of the links just below to purchase a new set if they look like they are wearing out. Cleats eventually do wear out over time and do not work as well, so it is best to swap them out periodically.

Nike Cycle Shoe Sizing
The Nike SuperRep Cycle shoe is a snug fit yet incredibly comfortable. We found the width is very accommodating – not narrow like many Nike performance shoes can be. We recommend ordering the SuperRep Cycle a half size larger, so you have some room in front of your toes. There is lots of padding on the heel of the shoe and breathable soft-mesh material surrounds the toe box contributing to the lightweight airy feel of this shoe — which makes for a very comfortable ride.
SuperRep Cycle Shoe Materials
These super-light shoes are fastened by two Velcro straps, one on the toe box and the other across the top of the shoe tongue to keep your heel in place and make them easy to slip on and take off. The shoe stays secure on the heel when pedaling at high speeds and when putting down the power. The lightweight mesh materials used in the upper construction make the SuperRep Cycle shoe light providing good ventilation for your feet during hot and sweaty bike sessions. You can walk without slipping due to the built-in rubber-tipped studs, but better not to go too far to protect the cleats.
The updated SuperRep Cycle 2 Next Nature model has a simplified closure system with the top strap that zigzags across the top of your foot to keep your foot secure in place. Some people may find this easier and a little quicker to put on.
With the Original Nike SuperRep Cycle you can walk short distances without slipping due to the rubber-tipped studs. A second Velcro strap pulled across the top of the tongue ensures your heel keeps in place
The front half of the bottom outsole is one piece of strong nylon plastic. The stiffer the sole, the better, it allows for good power transfer.
What Cleats can I use with the Nike SuperRep Cycle?
Nike opted to include a 2-hole and 3-hole cleat insert that allows you to easily install Delta or SPD cleats - see the image below.
As a reminder, cleats are not included with Nike SuperRep Cycle or SuperRep Cycle 2 shoes but do usually come with most brands of pedals. If you already own a pair of cycling shoes and the cleats are in good shape you can simply move (swap) them over to your new shoes.

A Note on cleats for New Cyclists
The Nike SuperRep Cycle shoe is compatible with all the common cleat systems. The cleat connects the shoe to the pedal, so it's important they must be compatible. Cleats usually will come with your pedal purchase so when buying your cycle shoes, you always want to ensure they are compatible and that you ordered the right cleat system if your ordering pedals online.

Just wearing your SuperRep Cycle shoes can inspire and motivate you to get on your bike and go do your personal best workout. Since the original review date new colors have been released, and availability can vary between Nike.com and Nordstrom online so you may want to checkout out both sites. Nike also releases limited versions from time to time.
Price
The SuperRep Cycle shoe range from $55 to $120 and comes in various cool colors (even mint green) with half sizes available for both men and women. The released the SuperRep Cycle 2 Next Nature are $120. Both can run a little small so recommend a half size up. You may get lucky and snag a pair on sale at Nike or at Nordstrom.
OUR TAKE ── Final thoughts
The Nike SuperRep Cycle shoes are great for indoor cyclists who use a Peloton, SoulCycle at-Home Bike or Nordictrack S22i or S27i Studio Cycle bike.
Ranging from $55-$120, they are light, breathable, and extremely comfortable. There is a wide toe box so you can push down and pull up with efficiency and comfort. With SPD cleats you walk a short distance off the bike without slipping or with goofy walking. The rubber studs on the outsole and textured toe plates provide traction as you move to and from your bike. These Cycle shoes were designed to handle lateral and out-of-seat movements cyclists experience during a ride.
