What is Peloton
Peloton uses a combination of technology, workout content, and best-in-class instructors to empower millions through its at home connected-fitness exercise equipment. With a daily live schedule and on-demand classes, Peloton aims to keep its community on track to fitness goals. Currently, Peloton has bikes, a treadmill, strength trainer, along with yoga, dance cardio, barre, boxing, Pilates, stretching, and meditation options. The workouts pair with curated music and occasionally offer guests, Artist series playlists, live DJ classes, and special events.

Rumor had it that the Peloton Rower will cost $3,195 in the US, and in this case, they were right on the money. The official name of the product is the “Peloton Row”. Keep checking here as we will post the latest information as it is confirmed, plus soon a full Review.
Peloton Row Release Date Announced
In earlier news we reported before Sept. 2022, Peloton announced their plan for introducing the Peloton Rower, now named Peloton Row. The Latest is that you can currently order with availability and delivery starting December 2022. Peloton probably delayed any rowing machine plans in part due to the Pandemic, whereas Nordictrack and Hydrow, recently released updated models of their indoor connected-fitness rowers.
Peloton Updates its website
Peloton updated its website with actual images of its new rowing machine and emailed an update indicating the Countdown was on. Peloton announced that Rowing sessions will be in-studio, Boot Camp-styled instruction with a form-assist feature to help those new to rowing and has added new trainers for the Row. Initially, Peloton Row will not have any manual rowing options.

Peloton to Shutter all Owned-Manufacturing Operations
Peloton in a press release dated July 12th, 2022, that Tonic Fitness Technology, Inc., the Taiwan-based manufacturing company, whom Peloton acquired in 2019 for $47.4 million, “will be suspending operations facility through the remainder of 2022”. Approximately 600 employees at Tonic will be laid off, according to Bloomberg News. About 100 employees will remain to continue work on the Peloton Rower through its launch as it exits manufacturing.
A new partner Pegatron Corp., a Taiwan based manufacturer, will build the upcoming Peloton Rower. Rexon Industrial Corp. also a Taiwanese manufacturer, will become the primary maker of all its exercise bikes and treadmills going forward.
Peloton 2022 Home Coming
At this year’s Homecoming which was a virtual event held May 13-14, from New York City. The entire global Peloton community was able to join the celebration. There were two days of live classes, plus inspiring panel discussions and the anticipated announcement of the new Peloton Rower was made ….as it turned out we were right-on with our earlier reporting. Peloton’s indoor rower was made official with its announcement, video, and images released Friday, May 13, 2022. Prices and availability were aimed to be released in the Fall when it’s expected to be available for purchase. This target date may be pushed back with the outsourced transition of manufacturing announced in July.

June 2022, Peloton announced that Rowing sessions will be in-studio, Boot Camp styled instruction. Stayed tuned for further updates. Meanwhile Hydrow, often referred to as “the Peloton of indoor rowers,” has beaten out Peloton with the July release of its new Wave Rower, that runs $800 less than the original Hydrow.

Peloton's New York production facility has four different studios: one for bikes, one for tread, one for yoga, and a mystery fourth studio. Several leaks have pointed to the fourth studio being for live rowing classes.
Financial Times stated according to its sources, the Peloton rower might be announced during the 2022 Homecoming on May 13, 2022. They were 100% correct, Peloton did announce.
One of Peloton’s manufacturer partners, Rexton, a long-term partner, recently filed a patent for an indoor rower with a touchscreen - partial diagrams above.
The UK application to operate a studio in London included rowing classes.
How will a Peloton rower compare to the best indoor rowing machines already available?
Currently, there is intense competition. Top Brands with connected-fitness rowing workouts on the water and in-the-studio are NordicTrack, Hydrow, Proform, Ergatta, CityRow, and Echelon topping the list.
Nordictrack and Hydrow are rowing machine standouts primarily because their on-the-water interactive classes are that good, from the trainers, their expertise, the camera angles to the locations streamed from live and on-demand.
NordicTrack indoor rowers enable their iFit rowing instructors to control your rowing machines’ resistance in real-time as you row. (Both in the studio and on the water with AutoAdjust and SmartAdjust options) This adds new dimension to enhance the rowing workout experience to improve overall stamina and fitness. When you tally all these factors and put in NordicTrack’s on-the-water, expansive rowing-workout series spanning the globe, Peloton will have to up its game to surpass them.
Peloton will have the benefit to offer a rower to its community (getting off to a good start with 7+ million members) and add new members interested in rowing at home. It most likely will be a strong competitor but with a focus more on studio classes and not so much on-the-water rowing sessions. Since Peloton to-date has not produced many out-of-studio or trainer-led destination options, we do not know what the on-water workouts (if any at all) will be offered until they go live.
