Tom Brady has built his career on excellence. A critical piece to sustaining his peak performance has been recovery, with a particular focus on sleep.
Under Tom’s guidance, Under Armour has created sleepwear that actually rebuilds your body while you rest with the power of Far Infrared.
Far Infrared is a type of energy on the infrared spectrum that has several benefits for the body. The recovery sleepwear harnesses the energy when you’re resting. The soft bio-ceramic print on the inside of the garment absorbs the body’s
natural heat and reflects Far Infrared back to the skin. This helps your body recover faster, promotes better sleep, reduces inflammation, and regulates cell metabolism.
Faster Recovery • Better Sleep • Comfortable Modal Fabric
Yes, even for the skeptics (including us), it seems to work reducing muscle soreness.
You can monitor your sleep and measure the improvement in deep sleep. Your deep sleep periods will be longer resulting in a overall much better sleep.
The Sleepwear is soft and comfortable, even stylish. Users have reported wearing the shirts throughout the day - as active normal wear
WHAT TO KNOW
The sleepwear is made from a soft jersey material, modal and it's soft and comfortable. The sleepwear has a 4-way stretch fabrication to allow greater mobility in any direction and a moisture transport system that wicks away moisture.
Far Infrared Rays are invisible waves of energy that have the ability to penetrate into the inner-most regions of the tissues, muscles and bone. It is an excellent therapy for promoting healing, reducing muscle soreness, and muscle spasms. It seems like the right idea to maximize this while sleeping so get 8 hours of therapy.
Under Armour suggests wearing the sleepwear for two weeks for at least six hours per night to start experiencing improvements in sleep and recovery.
GOOD TO KNOW
The TB12 Technology will help regulate spikes in body temperature throughout the night. You won’t sleep hot but may feel a touch warmer, although some experience as a coolness.
To experience far infrared heat take your hands and put your palms together. Move your hands about 1/2 an inch apart. The warmth from your palms is how far infrared waves feels like.
Under Armour is certain the product works. "We've tested it," says Kevin Haley, UA's president of innovation. "We've had actual third party testing and it's clear. It definitely works."
Associate professor and infrared therapy expert at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Micheal Hamblin, says "that it's reasonable to expect a garment emitting far infrared energy to help sleep". The science has shown that far infrared energy does improve long-term pain, helps blood flow, and improve muscle recovery.
The technology behind UA's sleep gear has been shown to work in saunas.
"People who use far infrared can expect various benefits," says Dr. Hamblin. "better sleep is almost certainly one of them."
- The new Recovery Sleepwear is a commercial version of Brady's tricked-out pajamas that cost between $80-100.
The inside of this fitted garment––which comes in long or short sleeves and pants or shorts––is equipped with a soft bio-ceramic print, which can reflect back the far infrared energy bodies generate.
The far infared energy is a sleep aid that reduces inflammation, regulate cell metabolism, and improve circulation, helping the body recover faster and fostering better sleep.
- Research by NASA has shown that far infrared on the cardiovascular system was a great way of keeping astronauts hearts’ in optimal condition.
The inside of the sleepwear is the key to the sleepwear's success.

NIGHT CAP ── Final thoughts
─ We love The Back Story: Brady signed on with Under Armour in 2010; the company's executives asked him to report back to them if he came across any sports science innovations. Two years ago, Brady invited Haley and a handful of other company execs to his training center in Foxboro. He showed them how he applied a bio-ceramic sleeve to an injured calf muscle, and stayed on the field. "Our general reaction was look, you're healing all the time, after every workout, after every game," says Haley. "We can give you that same benefit over your entire body, if we were just to take it out of an all-gel sleeve and put it into an entire body garment. That's where we got to sleep. Because that's where so much of the recovery takes place."
Reviews on the Under Armour show that most people are experiencing positive results from the sleepwear. We noticed less of that achy feeling after two weeks of sleeping in the sleepwear and increased deep sleep tracked by our iFit Vue.
