AirGlide 14i NordicTrack Game-Changer Elliptical

Our Take - AirGlide 14i Elliptical 2023

The Nordictrack AirGlide 14i Elliptical released for 2023 is a game changer with substantial updates from previous ellipticals, making this one of the best models for the 2023-2024 season and any home gym.

Ellipticals offer the benefit of low-impact Cardio combined with strength training in one workout session, adding upper body movement and enabling activation of the calves, hamstrings, quads, glutes, biceps, and triceps —all in a single motion. The AirGlide 14i is one of the few front-drive ellipticals having a combined incline AND a decline, adding a greater level of intensity and offering more variety with uphill and now downhill training.

As reflected by its name, the sensation or feel when using an AirGlide Elliptical is light and airy as you stride along a workout trail or mountain climb. In part, this is because of the use of silent magnetic resistance technology (SMR) together with a heavy 32 lbs. flywheel making it super-quiet when striding.

The 2023 AirGlide 14i is NordicTrack's latest elliptical product merging cutting-edge technology with ergonomic design. With its advanced tech features and intuitive controls for changing intensity and elevation, the AirGlide 14i is perfect for use with iFit trainer-led destination or studio workouts.

iFit INTEGRATION

A standout feature of this iFit-enabled Elliptical is its tight integration with iFit, which provides some of the best-produced training that pushes you harder with monthly Challenges and chase goals to motivate you to reach new Milestones, supported by features like AutoAdjust, SmartAdjust, and Active Pulse training.

AutoAdjust for example, enables trainers to dynamically change the speed, incline, and even the decline elevation to match the studio class or type of terrain encountered while using the AirGlide 14i on a hike or mountain climb. You can experience a hands-free, no-worries workout session that, for many fitness enthusiasts, pushes them harder to achieve wellness goals, whether in fitness or weight loss.

With its hi-quality HD 14-inch touchscreen explore workouts designed specifically for Nordictrack's iFit-enabled ellipticals, or if you prefer, select any treadmill-type session. The $1,799 price includes an iFit family membership 30-day trial. All-in-all, awesome price for a terrific, enhanced elliptical.

Live Experience on the AirGlide 14i

The MYN review team spent a few good hours on the AirGlide 14i and found it performed well delivering a powerful variation of resistance to intensify our workouts. As for the new decline option, we are big fans of this downhill feature on Nordictrack treadmills and Studio bikes. It added variation to sessions, and with this elliptical’s decline, to other leg muscles like the hamstrings and quads as well.

The feel of this elliptical was roomy and smooth, well-built, and absolutely no wobbling. The AirGlide 14i is a solid machine and a rock when in motion, as you stride slow or fast. The console layout is well organized, with all the main buttons, including quick 1-touch ones, in easy reach. Pairing an Apple Watch mirrored our heart rate on the touchscreen to allow zone training. Overall an excellent elliptical – low impact and super smooth.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE 14i Elliptical

  • Dual set of handles. One for moving arms, one for exercising lower body.

  • Tight-integration with iFit on-demand workouts. SmartAdjust machine learning technology automatically adapts a workout to fit you based on your progression, as you become fitter and stronger.

THE CONS

  • 18-inch stride length could be a little longer as with the Sole E95S 19 inch

  • We would like to see a longer Frame warranty, but Nordictrack’s warranty is competitive.

MYN Pro Review Notes:

Why We Like This Elliptical

A heavier flywheel is an advantage as it creates a smoother pedaling feel. The AirGlide has the same 32-lb flywheel as Sole’s E98 which costs about $1k more). There are 26 resistance levels providing a lot of control over the intensity of each workout session. The pedals are conveniently large and covered with a cushiony/textured surface, but you can also adjust their angle to find the most comfortable footing. It has a well-built solid feel, durable hard-wearing frame construction. And the one-touch control buttons make it really simple and easy to adjust resistance, incline, and the unique downward decline ability of the AirGlide 14i.

Moving and Stationary Arm Bars

You can work your upper body with the moving arm bars on the AirGlide 14i trainer. Or you can rest your upper body and just grasp the stationary arm bars attached to the console. This is a unique feature to the AirGlide adding flexibility to your workouts.

The AirGlide 14i easily pairs with most Bluetooth wireless devices, such as a heart rate monitor or an Apple watch. The cooling fan is also a nice option to have for those intense sessions or when during the in the summer your workout space may get hotter than other times of the year.

We Found it easy enough to move about short distances using its front wheels.

With the Nordictrack AirGlide 14i elliptical, you burn 4 times the calories in the same amount of time as on a treadmill. In the End – Final thoughts

A Combined solution for cardio and strength workouts

An elliptical offers low impact Cardio combined with strength training in one workout. The AirGlide is aptly named and lives up to its cool ‘Jordanesque’ reference to Michael Jordan, as it provides a smooth and effective workout experience with a 32 lb. enhanced flywheel that mimics natural stepping.

Moreover, the elliptical works seamlessly with the iFit fitness technology platform, which offers engaging and enjoyable training content, encouraging users to return for more sessions. iFit takes your workout to the next level by making your exercise equipment more exciting and engaging. It motivates you to push yourself harder with monthly challenges and chase goals to reach new milestones.

iFit also offers access to excellent trainer-led workouts that sync with your equipment, allowing the instructor to dynamically adjust your machine's resistance during each session or a specific segment, known as AutoAdjust (for automatic trainer control), so you can focus solely on your workout without worrying about making any adjustments. Whether you are pressed for time, in need of motivation, wanting to stay fit, or aiming to lose weight, iFit is the ideal solution.

As a result, we highly recommend the AirGlide 14i as one of the best ellipticals to choose from. With its small footprint, it won't take up too much floor space.
