Boll and Branch Mattress by design does not use common foam layers. Instead, the team has chosen to use materials that are not the least expensive but when used in combination create an amazing sleep, night after night.

The Boll and Branch mattress uses two types of Talalay Latex. Talalay latex delivers buoyant support that relieves pressure. Infusing the natural mineral (graphite) into the Latex during production, together with a natural wool layer, makes for a naturally flame-retardant barrier, eliminating the need for harsh chemical additives and making it healthier for you and good for the environment as well.
The graphite properties improve the latex layer's breathability and make it naturally anti-allergenic. It better absorbs heat for a cooler and comfortable sleep. It is seven times cooler than most synthetic memory foam.
Talalay graphite latex layer
The aerated holes make it particularly good for pressure point pain relief. The Boll and Branch design team chose to feature Talalay Latex because it is naturally derived from trees, its biodegradable qualities, has minimal off-gas properties and is very durable - meaning it helps your mattress last longer.
Boll & Branch uses natural wool and latex as the mattress’s fire barrier to meet the U.S. safety standards instead of harsh chemical fire-retardants used in many mattresses. Each mattress has the date of manufacture on a label, so you know it was recently made for you.
The design team also chose to use two types of coils to isolate partner motion and keep your spine aligned. First, the individually wrapped pocketed coils are quiet and reinforced at the edges to eliminate any roll-off feeling plus we found provides good edge support. Second, the micro-coil layer adds a nice subtle bounce. Overall, the Boll and Branch mattress is one we love to recommend.
